Oldsmobile F-85 starting problem

dont fail me now guys.....
I have a 1964 oldsmobile and I was having backfiring problems so i figured it was time for a full tune up--I changed all the wires the plugs the cap and the rotor along with the points and the condensor--Now my car will not start--it is cranking and fuel is running through the lines but the car just wont turn over and start. I tried advanicing the timing but that just made the car backfire and not start. I think I was a ******* and I put the wires on the ditributor cap wrong--but I do not know the right order to put them on now. I also pulled a plug out and set it on the block with the wire attached but there was no spark--I am just really confused--any help would be great--oh yeah its a 330 oldsmobile V8

Could be the wires like you said or the points need to be cleaned and adjusted.
