Olive Drab Color

In a car or truck magazine once (in the back) I saw a Chevy maybe a '55 that was painted an Olive-Drab Green, similar to Army green. It's wierd I know, anyone know the color I mean ? This was glossy like Base / Clear...

Pics ??

For traditional OD mix a bit of black into a bright green and just get the shade you want..there are so many renditions of OD that you cannot get it wrong..I don't think so anyway..

Cool. The color I saw may have been a pearl but that could still work. A nice bright green pearl while slowly adding small amounts of black until it is muddied up just right.. Sounds fun...

This may sound funny but check it out....Go to your local hardware store or paint shop... or some place like Home Depot
There are huge displays of colors ... about any under the rainbow... pick out a color you want and the card will tell you what the colors are in it and most tell you the amounts or percents... At that point you'll have a pretty good idea of how to get that color .... for some olive drabs there are greens /yellows/blacks /browns and oranges. It all depends on what hue you want...
BTW I am working on a 51 Ford woodie custom and it will be some type of olive drab... I have cards that show over 20 hues of that color... I will be trying to make a metallic out of it..in BC/CC. H adn't thought of pearl... man.. here we go again!!

Here is how to do it in a Kandy and metallic..shoot a silver or gold metallic base like form house of kolor then get some of the concentrates from house of kolor and mix them in an intercoat clear and shoot that over the metallic base..then you will have an OD metallic..of course shoot the regular clear over the whole thing..if doing pearl that is done by shooting a solid color base then mixing a pearl concentrate in the intercoat shooting that then the clear..

there you go..

The car I saw was just a partial-shot and it was an advertizement. Maybe in a Summit Racing Catalog. I'll check at work... Looked awesome !

Do like I said ,check out your paint stores that deal with housre colors, I am looking at 26 different colors that you'd call olive green-drab, once you find the color you want then you can try blending with auto colors to match before ever trying to get it right on the fly.
I've done this and it saves a whole lot of time f..ing around .
Barry
btw thanks onemore time I will be looking into your ideas soon -thanks.
