Yea, the first start up will definitely be a nail biter...
But I really can't see how it can be in there. I spent about another hour today looking inside turning the crank about 1/8 of a turn, and there really is no where that this thing could go, I even used a coat hanger in the water jackets to see if got in there somehow. If it was a washer or something small I'd take it apart, but a polylock?? They're pretty big (1 3/8" long and about 1/2 inch around plus the 5/8 head) and the clearances in a 383 are pretty tight.

I talked to another machine shop today too and he said theres no way you wouldn't notice a polylock in a small block chevy with the oil pan, intake, headers and timing cover off..

Thanks for all your input, but I'm rolling the dice!!! Wish me luck!!!!

I can't believe we're on the third page of this thread. We should all fly up to NJ on a hotrodders.com get-together, so everyone can help search for the nut. Once the property is "cleared", we'll all sing "glory glory hallelujah", say five hail-mary's, and throw salt over our shoulders, and bow our heads for 19Nova69's engine's initial start-up. When it starts-up and everything's good, we'll jump for joy, and sing Christmas Carols in July.

Yeeeaaah. Sounds like a plan.

As many times as you've turned the engine over, the rings are probably seated by now!

Thank You God!!!

Well, after biting almost all my nails off, saying a few hail mary's the engine started and ran, no noises!!!! I guess it's not in there!!! At this point, I don't care where it is, but when it turns up I'm curious to see where...

I'm beginning to think Sqzbox got a twisted humor. I've laughed at almost every post.

This has been one of the best threads ever. Glad it's running good.

PS, anybody seen TI lately? Just curious.
