This One Is Kicking My Butt

Hey All, Working on a '97 BMW 318I. Former owners tried to do a starter job and botched it up. Found lots of stuff not connected, hoses, wiring etc. The two wires not connected are the puzzle. I found the Black/green is supposed to hook up to the aux. crank terminal on starter. The other wire is the puzzle, its brown/green stripe, the end got cut off. I think it was supposed to be a ground on the intake manifold somewhere, but I can't verify it with the diagrams I have. I have found reference to a brown/green(two) which are ground outputs from the ECM, one to the idle air control valve, the other to the fuel pump relay. Is the extra wire a ground source for the ECM? This ones kicking my butt! Any help would be appreciated! olnolan
