One lucky guy - you have to see this!

This is amazing. Great video of a '55 Chevy and how it all went wrong on the strip, but how he survived and walked away from it. It's not very long, well worth the load time

I still can't believe he walked away with it... and what went wrong? He seemed to have poor traction and his diff was all over the place, then he let off the gas and punched it hard again only to sidewhip the car??? Man, look at his seat fly, and the rest of the car just shatters into pieces...

Trash suspension. Watch when he does his burnout and starts to stage. The car is bouncing like it has no shocks. When he leaves the light he has a bad case of wheel hop but the car looks like a hobby horse rocking back and forth.

Why did he get back into the throttle when he was already in the other lane?

Why wasnt his seat better attached to the car? Even though his dial in said 12.30 in my opinion he is still close enough to 11s that he should have a five point harness.

That, and the fact that clean underwear won't stay clean for long if you crash...

In a while, Chet.

Yeah looks like his shocks were shot. Something musta gone wrong right from the get-go. Good thing his seat was attached poorly and that he wasnt wearing a seat belt otherwise he woulda flown with it and died, instead of being on his own legs before the car even came down. Looks like that track will do better safefty inspections from now on
Somebody was obviously telling him something...

If you watch the car it never really rolls onto the roof. If the seat had been securely attached and he were securely fastened into the seat he still probably would have made it. I'd rather stay in the car where there is at least SOMETHING to protect you from flying parts. When you fall out like he did it's very easy to get crushed by the car rolling over the top of you...

Interview with the idiot.

What happened?
It got away from me.

It looks like your shocks are worn out.
What's them thangs?

How'd you end up on the ground while your car was still flipping?
I reckon them '55 seatbelts was a little dry rotted.

You stabbed the throttle after you crossed the centerline, why?
I figgered it'd straighten up.

It didn't work.
Yeah, well that's them Nascar people said to do when it got sideways. I just didn't do it right I reckon.

What did you learn from this experience?
Lock the door 'fore I line it up again 'cause them seatbelts ain't worth a chit no more.

I clicked the link and it says that the file has been removed...that sucks! Did anyone happen to save the video? I'd like to see it.
