One more day ot this job. and then they can shove it.

my last day of work at this job (Texas Youth Commission) (penitentiary for boys ages 12-21)(my dad always said i'd end up in the pen)is June 30. I took this job seven years ago with the hope of being able to hold on to it until all the kids graduated, and that happened this month. WOOT!!!! and i didn't get fired!!!??? I never thought i'd make it here till then, but danged if i didn't. When I leave here, I'm going to prn it at a local nursing home for the month of July, then I/we/me and the ol lady are relocating. Leaning towards Rusk Tx. home of Cherokee county dragstrip and the rusk state hospital.(my kind of people.) But my main goal is to complete my R.N. Trinity Valley in Palestine has the cheapest tuition in the state of Texas right now, and that sounds great to me.

For those that might remember, Mike, the son who wrecked the taurus, is on his third day at Camp Pendleton.... poor sob, I hope he's ok. Pray for him if you would please. Tommy, the good son, has a job at a local parts manufacturing plant. All I know is they "make all kinds of parts for all kinds of cars." what cars? what parts? "I don't know, I just push buttons on my machine. BTW dad, can i borrow your micrometers and dial calipers?" He's got him an account with the tool man.

So for the first time in a while, I'm excited, mostly about getting the hell out of crockett texas. and the 386 hours of vacation time i'm fittin' to get paid for don't hurt matters none.....
I do believe i'm gonna book me a striper fishing trip sometime late next month...

ya'll have a good one.

Good luck with the career change

Heathens, that's what I call them.
Congrats on the life changes. Go try some real fishing, head up to Minnesota, 17,000 lakes to choose from. Walleye fishing and eating is mighty hard to beat. Dan

walleye??? that's like a big perch right? now, a musky looks like it'd be a fish worth catching......

the little lake we live on now had pike stocked in it way back in the day..... never have talked to anyone who's caught one though..... but this stumpy hole is way full of bass and crappie. and did i mention it's stumpy? nothing i love more than some dumarse on a skidoo hauling arse through what looks like beautiful water only to launch it on a stump 2-3 inches under water..... tried to tell a guy once, he wanted to talk crapola, some crap or other about 'you arseholes don't run the lake. I can ride where i want.' wasn't five minutes later, he hulled his pos jetski and wanted us to tow him back to the boat ramp. guess who was told to piss off?
guess who threw a fit?

Oooooooo, Musky. That's the wife and me in our "Beta" version - about 30 years ago (note our bell bottoms - cool). The Musky is a 45 pounder caught on Lac Vieux Desert near Land O Lakes Wisconsin.

I had an even bigger one on about 5 years after that pic was taken that literally burned up the brake on my reel. Couldn't get him close enough to the boat to even snap a picture but he jumped twice so I got a nice clear look at him.

So if you want some good Musky fishing CL, just head up our way.

cboy shhh, don't want to many west coasters moving to the midwest with its forests, lakes and fishing. I am not worried about the hotrodders, just the tree huggers and some of the off the wall crazy idea californians who will have all these bright ideas of how to make things better. I like not having to go through emissions tests and being able to use solvent. Nice musky. Any idea what the record is in the state? I never caught any big fish like that, but have caught enough perch, crappies, ect over the years. I haven't gone out fishing in a few years, have to go do it again soon. Here maybe this picture will keep too many from heading out this way.
P.S,, They had color film back then? LOL

I think we can let Crazy Larry in. But after him we lock the door.

The world record musky and the Wisconsin record musky are one and the same. 69 pounds 11 ounces. I think it was caught over on the Chippewa Flowage in the 40's or 50's.

My dad's cousin Gene (who owned the resort we were at in the pic) had a 54 pounder mounted on his wall that came from this same lake.

I'll second that, groovy catch man.
Dewey, one of these days, I might take you up on the fishing trip.

what a monster.

on the local news friday, they had a short story on a guy who caught a bull shark in the trinity river near the livingston dam.... a 5 footer...... now, i don't know how familiar ya'll are with the trinity river, but the livingston dam is a good hundred miles or more from the coast..... we're being invaded.

Brad, theres an arse load of places between corpus and wichita to find a new home.... did you get to do any fishing while you've been there?
