If it's OHC it's a North Star, same as in other Caddys. If not, it's a standard GM truck V-8. Either has potential!

the newer models are a 6.0L LS series engine (not a northstar), so it has great potential. get some ls6 heads/intake/cam and go on down the road.

If it is the 6 liter it also makes a little more power than the trucks engine because of a higher compression ratio. That is what i would like to get for my Chevelle.

That's It!

Vortec 6000 is a name of Escalade engine! 6-liter, 10:1 compression, 345 hp and 380 ft.lbf. Iron and aluminium.

Go for it and let us know how it comes out. The only problem might be cost...even if you find a totaled Escalade it's still going to be way expensive as a donor. You could always just buy a crate...

Totaled engine? As in broke and not running? Do you know what is broke? If you have to do ANY major repair to this engine forget it... It would be much easier and cheaper to build a SB383 to 400 horse then it would be to bring back a late model, computer crontrolled engine which has little aftermarket support.
