One piece sbc oil pan gasket?

I was told the one piece oil pan gasket comes in a thin and thick front seal. What would dictate the thin/thick gasket? Oil pan or timing cover?

Thanks,
Charlie

Oil Pan, measured from straight edge across front of pan, down to center of valley.
