one wire alternator convertion

I have a question that i am sure is been answer many times, I have a 1969 jeepster commando V6 225 buick engine, it still has the original alternator/ generator and point distributor with with coil the the previous owner has too many wires cut and so on, I would like to rewire it , i want to put a single wire alternator from my 69 camaro, i know one of the wires will go to the batt. there is also two spade connectors does one goes to ignition sense to charge the alternator, and once i done with this , do i get rid off the old valence resistor, and the regulator, and how to i wire the coil, if someone can sent me a diagram it will be nice, i am not an expert at this , but i can hold my own. thanks, one last thing i will be running an external gauge sinse there is none.
