Ontario, there's no place like home...

Well, it looks like I'm gonna go full circle and move back to where I was born, Good 'ole Sault Ste. Marie, ON. I've been in Winnipeg for 5yrs now and I am no better off now than when I got here. Mind you I've learned a lot in those 5yrs. I have no family here, still unemployed since those monkeys canned me and I can't afford to go to University yet, so what the hell. I have a couple good things going for me if I go back at least.

1. My Dad has been an Electrical Maintenance Engineer with Algoma Steel Corp. for 32yrs now and said he could get me in there. (They pay really good there so that's a bonus)

2. This is my favorite. I will have access to a myriad of tools and equipment (Industrial welders, compressors, power tools, excavators and bull dozers, and a 5000sq-ft heated shop) 24/7. And a couple of old cars including an old Duster. If the Duster is still there I will make it my first ever Muscle car which will be sweet

Snag: What to tell my current girlfriend (This part sucks 'cause she's marriage material, but I have to move on, 'cause I'm getting no where fast here)

Marc

Almost forgot, there's an overhead crane in the shop

Marry her and she has to go with you

I don't think so man. Marry her and she will do as she pleases and you better like it. You might ask her to go with you or she can catch up with you later, once your set!! No discrace in starting over fresh. Good jobs being hard to come by and good woman even harder! My wife has talked about US moving to Texas, her job might require it. She makes more money than I do and I work for FORD MOTOR. A few more years and I retire, my wife is 14 years younger and plans to keep working. OK by me.

Dude, can I move into the back corner of the shop? I'm housebroken, and real clean and polite, I don't shed either.

Oh, yeah try to convince her to go with you, if she is marriage material, you dont wanna throw that away, its real hard to find again.

If I married ya I'd have to take a vow to keep Chucks wormhole secret, oh whoops, did I let the wormhole thing slip out again, damn I always do that.

As far as the girlfriend issue goes, I told her my plans and she cried for a few hours. I hope she eventually understands why I have to do what I have to do. And no, I can't take her with me, I don't want her to screw up University. She still lives at home with her parents and she is able to pay for it herself this way without getting a loan. My life's pretty messed at this point in time, don't want to bring her into it and screw up hers either. Maybe in the future when I'm back on my feet our paths will cross once again. Thanks for the advice guys, and the offer Chick LOL

Wooooooohooooo!
I made it in one piece! I gave my van to my ex so she could have some wheels, which left me with taking the bus. It was a 20hr road trip, but I'm finally "home". It feels good to have hills and mountains around me again, five years of prairie life sure is strange. Especially when Chuck fires up the Wormhole generator. Like I said before, I don't know how often I'll be on here for the next little while. For now I must scout the farm tommorrow for a Duster and an old mid '70's Dodge 1/2ton, then I'll be doing some renovation work at my Grandparents camp for a couple weeks, have to do some bodywork and paint to my Mom' Caravan, help my youngest sister move next week, Crap! I've only been back for one day and look at the stuff that's all ready lined up for me... Good grief... It's good to be back...

I know what you mean about moving. I haven't lived in one house more that 3 years for the last 26 years. Enlisted, went to Memphis Tenn, West Florida, Northern Japan, East Virginia, East Florida, back to East Virginia and now Southern Japan. Typical Sailor, a couple x's and a great wife now.
Are you still talking to your gal? Long distance romance sucks. Best of luck getting your act and money together, it will happen, you got the right attitude. Remember money aint everything, I should know, Uncle Sam never gives up much.

Ahhhh, home and the honey-do list. Somehow it isn't such a chore if you are where you want to be. If this is what you want, then i am extremely happy for you. Find a Duster and take a shot at the title with 4 Jaw Chick. Crank open the wormhole and that should eliminate all your worries. Chuck had that thing proto typed when I worked for him at the brothel. He put instant coffee in it and it went back in time!
