oops, i traded....!
Just got home, guy mailed this morn bout my vette. Came and saw, and straight trade....called my buddy with a tow truck, and off we went. 1940 chev sedan delivery, tubbed, narowed 9", mild 350, all steel, tub job is beautiful, tires are new, nova front clip, power everything, even has heat! Nice 6 point cage, etc etc, needs minor elec stuff, tach and volt guage and signals not working. 010 block, not sure of heads yet, weiand intake, has lots of oil pressure and runs well, haven't driven it really yet so don't know how slow it is but I suspect plenty slow lol....will work on that over the winter, I'm thinking 456 gear, tunnel ram, big solid cam, and hopefully some decent used heads. Should be fun, for the less then 3500 I had in my lumpy vette I think I did OK....I do have to stiffen up the rear end, soooft springs......

nice truck, have fun with that one

I didn't hide anything with the vette, but honestly feeling more then a tad guilty....he was asking 18000, has an appraisal for 26, and on a good day my vette is a 4000$ car.....ah well....kids friggen love it, will have to relocate gas tank to install a small rear seat for them, .....and man does it run good, gonna be a shame to take the motor apart lol....

Unless you are gonna do some serious racing, why tear the motor apart .If this motor runs as well as you say and all you have to do is minor stuff, then leave it alone and drive it. More HP means more gas, more heat ,so you may have to upgrade the radiator and finally more HP means more headaches.
I did the race car for the street thing. It is fun but its also a pain in the ***. Have fun with the car and just drive it. |
I'd swap in a OD trans if it doesn't have one already. That's something you'll really appreciate on the street.

Needs a supercharger. You will enjoy that a lot more, on the street. OD is a big waste of money.

Bygddy, you made a GREAT trade! If your wife decides she doesn't like this ride, I'll be more than happy to make sure you get your investment back, with even a little profit! :mwink:

Sell them back to the guy for $150. I can lay out a simple low cr stock short block supercharged 350 build plan for you that does not need big gears. Makes silly big power and cruises. No OD required.
Based on the Weiand 177 blower and hyd cam and Summit/Brodix heads. (3.36 to 3.73 gears are fine). What converter do you have? Start by bolting the 177cid blower on what you got, at low boost. Upgrade as it comes along. It all fits under the hood on that car. |

In stop and go traffic its next to useless, so I guess it depends on where you drive. |

You won't find this stuff used, unless it is used up. Just buy new. You won't regret that. The blower itself will add a real kick
to the car. Both visually and big street go power. You can add to it later; as the need and funds allows. (heads etc). Its really hard to beat supercharged power on the street. It builds such a high torque motor that big gears are not really needed. Think of it like having a 502CID BBC crate motor under the hood. Big Block power and torque at a fraction of the price. |

The supercharged 350 gets the job done and cruises fine with a mid 3 gear. Over drive does not add value to it. Just cost, better spent on the blower, it self. A high performance motor does not like to cruise at a low low rpm. On this car with 31" rubber you can cruise @2800rpm @75MPH with 3.55's and a th350 and 3000 stall. It will GLH. |
