Opening 283 heads for 1.940 valves
A friend opened a pair 283 heads for 1.940 valves. After bolting on the engine (a 350) the heads worked just fine. The question is: will it last? I don't know if the opening process was detrimental to the heads strenght. Maybe too much material was removed...

Without any pictures, how can we tell? If the seats were correctly cut and valves/chambers were professionally unshrouded they should be ok.
