opening sytem for a 51 stude

i am building a 51 stude starlight coupe hot rod and need advise as to what to put in for a trunk release system as this car will not have any visible handles or locks. should it have some type of hydraulic sytem and if so what to use

trunk release.......

hi,i bought a VW hood latch and receptacle to use in my 48 ford coupe decklid,i made an L shaped bracket to line everything up,and am using a 12 v solenoid to open.(same as used on door latches.with an emergency open wire on bottom(if the power goes out,i pull the wire and trunk pops open.

trunk opener

speedway motors sells a neat little electric trunk opener for about 15 bux or so. i have one on my 54 ford and it works great.

sounds good but what do i use if i do not want to use the old spring set up

If you want it to open and close by itself you will need a linear actuator, rig some bracketry. Seems to me that Dakota digital makes some but there has to be something surplus out there if you look.
