opinion needed on a combo, cam advice

here is my setup plan for the summer

74 351W stock internals
stock heads with mild port job 8:1 comp stock
edelbrock rpm air gap intake
1" 4 hole carb spacer
holley 670cfm carb
hooker comp headers

cam i was looking at getting from a bud is a comp XE268H cam
224/230 .509/.512

i'm thinking that i'll need to mill the heads and/or run thinner copper head gaskets to make the combo function better, but comp cams doesn't list a compression that the cam likes to have. Also, does anyone know if power brakes will still function without a canister or pump?

i'd like to be able to run 87 gas in the car, if that makes a difference - i'm willing to sacrifice the added power of compression if i can save on fuel, since canadian fuel is insane.

Why don't you just call Comp for their advice? That cam sounds to be in the ballpark but they could get you closer. I would say to adjust head gaskets to achieve the desired quench - not to adjust compression. Anyone else?

a rebuild is in the works, along with some better heads, but just was wondering if this would run like a dog with one leg
