opinions on my build

alrite i just bought a truck about 6 months ago and soon after i had my first kid so ive been building it on a really small budget and i was wondering everyones opinions on it so far. alrite i got a 350 bored 60 speed pro hyp. flat tops with the coated skirts. i was given some small 434 heads and a 30-30 old vette cam. i bought a performer edelbrock intake and found a q jet for free. its probably not a good mix of stuff but i was just wantin some other opinions on it.

Like you said,it is not the best combo but when you are on a budget you use what you have.We have all been there at some point. It will be more fun than not having an engine at all. Go for it and have fun.

the performer manifold isn't the best option, but it'll work ok, you'll just be limited on the top end. What is it going into?

I myself would not run a used cam , you can get cam and lifter kits from summit for $90 . I know on a budget it can be tough Though . I went alot years driving beaters to raise a family , Thats done so now I am building some toys .

The 30-30 cam is all wrong for the intake, and heads and for a truck.

Get a diferent cam.

Crane H272-2 (HMV272) #113941 Is a better match.

AMEN. I know from personal experience that cam is DEAD below 3k minimum. It was designed for 4 speed, plenty of gears, heads, intake, and carb. If it is a true 30-30, it is solid lift anyhow.
