See, this what I don't get. I saved at least $250 by buying all SPI products for my project, top shelf stuff. So why is it OK to save a few bucks with SPI, but I'm a bottom feeding shade tree hacker if I want to save a few bucks on the basecoat too?

Last I knew it was called "shopping around" and it wasn't an internet crime. I'm a simple consumer that pays full retail for everyting, so whats wrong with looking for a good deal?

How would I know? Maybe this website is the same exact formula and material as PPG DBC. That the kind of information I was looking for.

Geesh, makes me think I'm going to have a permanent pasted on my avatar cause I was looking to save a few bucks.

Just so you know. The autocolorlibrary site used to be "the" online source for PPG paints. You could look up actual scans of the PPG chip books to pick your color from and have it mixed in any PPG variation you wished.

Along comes PPG's ban on internet sales to offer jobbers price protection and the plug gets pulled on the autocolorlibrary site.

They have long been the largest online distributor of HOK and have a ton of top quality sites run under the tcpglobal heading.

The restoration/kustom shop lines are this huge jobbers attempt to keep a form of online paint sales going.

This paint is most likely a "toll manufactured" or "relabeled" known product produced by reputable manufacturers. Not unlike the SPI brand that folks here seem to be so crazy about.

I'd be willing to bet its a fine product. I'm waiting on the kustom shop line of bases that are supposed to be coming. Be interesting to see how it compares to the HOK that they also sell. IMO tcpglobal is leading the way / setting the standard for an internet jobber.

Guys doing overall repaints or painting in a home shop setting have a whole different set of needs than the pros doing things in a collision/production setting making the features offered in a "high end" base pointless in alot of instances.

If your not fixing accident damage on OEM paint how important is color match?

If you don't have a booth and get a bug in your paint making a repaint necessary, will you be glad you spent 3 times as much on a "high end paint"?

Do you think the 'high end" manufacturer is going to honor the warranty that the shops get on something you sprayed at home?

Do you really need the latest and greatest in UV protection and fast curing times on a car that will barely leave the garage?

I've sprayed enough of both "types" of paint to know when to use high end and when a value line is just fine.

For allot of guys working on their own rides cost "is" a big issue. Maybe the reason some folks work on their own stuff is because they can't afford the high labor cost. Makes sense to me that if they do their own work to save labor cost they would be trying to save cost in other areas as well.

To answer you question, yes. I've ordered guns and paint and they are a good company to deal with. They do a bunch of E-Bay business, so check there and maybe save a few more bucks over their web prices.

Well I ordered a 12oz spary can from them on Tuesday. I wanted just get a spray can so I could do a test panel because she wants a certain '06-'07 Mazda color she saw. Ordered it Tuesday am and it was delivered UPS on Wendsday. Got confirming emails when I ordered it and another follow up with a tracking number. Already sprayed a test panel and the color is pretty much as i remembered it. Just based on thier service, I'm going to take a second look.

PS,

My last post was a little partly in response to shine's relpy, which he has since deleted?????
