Opinions: un-useable rear seat or no
A new guy question here. I'm currently struggling with the "do I run a rear seat or not" My 28 Tudor Highboy will be space limited in back. Gas tank will be in back...probably on lying down on the floor vs standing up under the rear window. So as you can see in the linked pic....there's not much room...I'm thinking why bother. Would dressing up the back area nice...upholstered but open for baggage and stuff detract from a car? Does a missing back seat take away from an otherwise nice car?
Here's where I believe the back of my seat will reside. Fwiw, I'm 6 ft and momma likes to stretch out when co-piloting. We've stretched the wb to 106/7 and don't believe we'll cut more than 2" if any from the firewall....test fitting now. Engine is Lt1 with elect fan. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/memb...783-image.html http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/memb...784-image.html |

It's your car, and you should do it however you want to. If you're not going to have passengers, it doesn't matter if you have a seat back there. It's up to you..............and your co-pilot.

Yes on the overnight trips...will be traveling as far as my vacation time allows. While I understand the "It's your car thing" I've not seen many "finished" cars without a rear seat. I'm also considering how it all finish out without the seat.
As far as a trailer....we had one behind dads 31 Chev and his opinion is that they are a pain in the ***...But I do believe he unhitched that rig at the hotel as soon as he could. So latching it up to a light/power pole had him worried about it getting ripped off. Any finished pics out there of a finished interior w/o the rear seat??? I may consider some custom jump seats as a just in case. thanks alll for the input |

The back could have an upholstered/carpeted 'floor' over the gas tank. It would be like having a sedan delivery (without the back door). Anybody who buys your car (if you ever sell) could bolt in a seat if they wanted to, but until they own it, do what works for you. If it's upholstered and carpeted, it won't look bad, and it will give you room for suitcases/bags for your road trips.
