Just a tip, do not buy your Optima battery via mail order. I have one in my 34's chassis, being used to run the engine occasionally. It has been in place for 2 years three months. It has a dead cell. Went to the local Advance Auto Parts because they sell Optima and was told they cannot replace it because they did not sell it and Optima will not reimburse them. Called Optima to see about warranty service as the red top has a three year replacement warranty. They tell me to take it to an Optima battery dealer in the next town and confirm that it is bad. Did that a few minutes ago and it is indeed bad. Optima will replace it, but it will take at least ten days to get to me

. Asked if they could just send a new one to the battery dealer and let me have a new one from his stock...no deal this is the way it must be handled, but hey you don't need to send the old one to us

.
Moral of this story is, buy the Optima battery local so you can get immediate replacement. Brings up an interesting question. What happens if it dies when I'm out of town on the road?
