Original paint from 1971 GM, what is it?

After reading about the characteristics of laquer in other threads here, I am wondering what type of paint it is I have sanded off my 1971 Chevy pickup?

I thought that stock paint was fairly stubborn in some areas, especially for 36 year old paint. So is early 70s paint a different compound altogether or what? Enamel maybe?

Gm continued using lacquer paint much longer then other car manufactures. My guess would be lacquer, but I'm not positive. Bet there are some 70's Gm truck buffs here that will know for sure what the factory would have used. But I did take a look at a late 70's transam, and it sure looked like lacquer, with how dull and chalky it was and the cracking it had.

gm used lacquer on all their cars in the 70's but used acrylic enamel on all their trucks.

GM also experimented with water base paints in the early seventies. Mostly in lighter colors.
