Background Info

If you go to:
www.snopes.com/photos/accident/carcrash01.asp

You can get all the info on this accident. Apparently, it really happened and the pedistrian survived.

damn, i'm gonna take a wild guess here and say that he didn't make it.
what really sucks is that the guy saw it coming and tried to get out of the way. it probably would have been better if he hadn't.....

i stand corrected.

I saw that on the morning news before work one day. Only they cut the video before the pedestrian got hit. Your not safe anywhere. Now they'll make us where bicycle helmets when we cross the street.

Happened right here in Dayton. The elderly woman driving the PT Cruiser ran a red light (that had been red for 28 seconds) and hit the SUV. The pedestrian (who was homeless) was "J" walking and would not have been hurt if he had been waiting on the sidewalk where he belonged. Yes, he did survive.

Look at the still photo in the article and you will see the "J-walker" at the curb where he would have been innocently standing had he been going the other direction and waiting on a green light. Also, could he have not started across with a "green" pedestrian light? Just not his lucky day and not his day to die.

I disagree - I am quickly coming to the realization that cell phone drivers are at least as dangerous as seasoned citizens. When I see someone with their hand plastered to their ear, I back WAY off.

I stand corrected, cell phone use IS the worst!

I'd also argue that people who are OVERLY cautious probably cause as much confusion and accidents as overly aggressive drivers.

Also, AKM I feel your pain. People need to learn how to respect motorcycle drivers. I always give a motorcycle some good space on the road. If a car slows down and you connect, buy a bumper. If a bike slams on his brakes (and he WILL slow down a lot faster than your car), you'll kill him. Why do I feel like I'm the only person on the road who gives bikers proper space/respect?

The world is FULL of chitty drivers-

I watch out for the women putting make up on when they're driving. I do agree seniors are danger, the other day I saw an old man make his left turn about 40 feet to soon and drove right off the road, I slowed down and kept watching and as I expected he threw it in reverse and backed right out into traffic almost causing an accident.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive while talking on their cell phone, they can't concentrate on driving while their talking. Myself I don't find it any more difficult than trying to drink something or adjust the stereo while I'm driving.

Killer you're not the only one being respectful of the motorcyclists, I give them about 3 times more room than I would a car, only because if they jam on the breaks or fall off I'll need as much space as possible.
