Ouch!!
I haven't bought any paint for the past year or so, so it was a shock to me when I bought a gallon of PPG urethane clear + hardner at lunch break today. 1 gallon was $285!!

You don't even need the entire gallon for a car, I still have leftovers from about 6 other things I've done for others, freebies for me <img src="graemlins/mwink.gif" border="0" alt="[mwink]" />

That's just 1 gallon of plain clear plust two quarts of hardner (2:1 mix). Oh, and 10 roll-them-off-yourself, self stick, 180 grit orbital sanding sheets.

That sand paper is pretty spendy too. A roll of 80 here from a paint shop is usually depending on sales and etc anywhere from $45-$55 sometimes higher depending on grit. I stocked up a while back when a boat supply place went out of buisiness they were selling them for $20-$28 a roll. Wasn't exspecting to find anything that I could use, but when I saw that I was shovling them into my cart and guarding them suckers like a rotweiler with a soup bone <img src="graemlins/drool.gif" border="0" alt="[drool]" />

My father in law owns a paint & body shop here in East Texas and his buddy owns the shop where he buys his paint supplies. Needless to say I can get some deals but I went in about 2 months ago to get some sealer and I bought about $550.00 worth of different gritt paper for $55.00. He had a whole closet (8x10) with many shelves he was trying to clean out to make room for his (Secretary's?) <img src="graemlins/evil.gif" border="0" alt="[evil]" /> <img src="graemlins/spank.gif" border="0" alt="[spank]" /> office.
If my pocket book(wife) wasn't so tight I would have racked it up and went on a selling spree on EBAY. lol -Billybob

Hallow; I was kiding about the sanding disks. I got those cheap rip off sheets and spent like $3 for them. The rest is PURE paint. Even if I had paid $100 for the sandign disks I think the paint cost would have been a little excessive!

It's the best. Material is still the cheapest part of a paint job.
