Our all chevy rat rod

Hello everyone, I am helping my 17 year old son build a rat rod. We are both Chevy guys so we are doing things a little differant using a 33 chevy frame and a 283 chevy engine from a 62 pickup that is sitting in back of my brothers gas station, the 33 was back there also. We have a rear from a jeep that is also sitting back there. Had to buy a trans as the chevy truck trans. is to big for sure. got a good deal on a muncie trans out of a GTO, using the brake booster and master cylinder also. Right now we cut out our own boxing plates from an old Sunoco sign post and my son is welding it up. doing a great job also for just learning. We have dropped our axle 4 inches using a frame machine at work but have not installed it yet. So this is going to be a real "rat' rat rod for sure!!

Consider yourself lucky...that you can do this project with your son. All my kid wanted to do was play sports and music. Just had zero interest in cars or working in the shop. So cherish what ya got there.
