Dan, I'm not sure why you would want to put a 5 speed in the old beast but bro, For one the rear end gears may be a bit much for the extra gear, and 2nd , A 4 speed would be the best way to go seeing as the 5 speeds are a little weak for torquee truck engines. A muchie would be the only way to go in my opinion man. I hope i helped a little bit, besides the 5 speed would cost way more than its worth. save a few bucks and get the tranny that could take the punishment.
good luck
Big BAM!

trany swap

Dan
I'm not sure as to what your driving (long or short box) for measurements. Is your truck already a stick? Just curious thinking of having pedals, linkage, etc. You may want to look at an '87-94 Chevy/GMC. I had one with a 5 speed (wish I still did) It was great around town and good mileage on the hi way. May want to check out your local yards for a donor and you may be able to make your swap. Don't forget your "measuring stick". It will save you time and money. Good luck.

I had a '93 short box step-side 350/ 5 speed manual. It was a great truck. If you have a yard near you you might find on there. I could be wrong but I believe you should be able to take from one to the other. Not sure of cross-member location. Being that the '93 would be computer controlled spedo cables may not be in the mix. I can not remember, (old Timer's disease) what the gear in the rear was. Might be able to check with a local dealer and see what it was. I got the truck right off the lot new. So I do know it was not a special order truck. Hope this helps some. Good luck!

Someone on the www.67-72chevytrucks.com board may have an idea. What about a Tremec TKO?
