Overfilled my Chevy TH400 transmission

HELP,

How can I get fluid out of the trans pan without dropping the pan? I tried using a hand drill powered pump, sticking a 1/4" tube into the fill tube , but was only able to get out 5 or 6 ounces before I ran the drill battery down.

I will try a larger diameter tube , but if this still won't get more trans fluid out, I need your help with other methods of removing the excess fluid.

If I end up having to drop the pan, how much fluid should I expect to add to bring the level up to the full mark?

Thanks in advance,

29guy

You can drain the oil by disconnecting one of the cooler lines at the radiator. Be careful, the stuff comes out really fast!

Don't feel bad, 29. I felt the same way when someone told me.

I pulled the trans oil out the dip stick with a hand pump when we overfilled the trans worked fine. I think it was a orange hand pump called a rabbit. ed ke6bnl
