overlap help

Okay so this is a bit odd I know but I'm building a 383 with ported 882 heads with the big valves rpm stealth intake..blah blah blah.... the question is about the cam. I'm looking at running a VooDoo 262 cam but ground on a 105 ICL with 105 LSA. Basically with 1.6 rockers it gives slightly more lift and overlap than the 268 with 1.5 rockers but with a hair less duration. Should the idle sound lopey like a 268 cam is (well somewhat lopey). Oh and it has about 9.5:1 compression long tube headders and glass packs.

There is an artical written by David Vizard in the December issue of Stock Car Racing. I think you will find what you want to know there. But his basic thought is, to obtain more over lap you will want to use 1.6 rockers on the intake valves and 1.5 on the exhaust valves. That way the intake opens a little early and the exhaust then opens so as to "pull" some of the intake charge out the exhaust. This will insure a complete cylinder "fill". Anyway look up the artical and give it a read. It is "Breaking Through The LCA Confusion Zone" LCA is short for cam lobe centerline angles.

I really appreciate that suggestion- I do find Vizard to be very insightful and easy to understand. He's definitely one of the greats in my book.
