Should the oxygen sensor be hot even when engine is off for 24 hours?

no it should not. If it has three or more wires to it then it has an electric heater built into it that should not work without the ignition being on. the ignition supplies 12 volts to the heater and the computer grounds it to cause it to heat up until the engine runs enough to heat the sensors. Check to see if your ignition is hung on for some reason.

Yes I just checked for 12 volts on the harness and in fact I am getting the 12 volts when the key is off.
