Packard tail light lenses

I was out walking through the neighborhood the other day, when I spotted a "gem"! It was a very nicely restored '56 Packard!!!

I can't even remember when I last saw one. I stopped to talk to the owner, who's dad collects them. I commented that, as a boy in the late fifties, I saw many customs in the car magazines using those dramatic tail lights to restyle their cars. I told him I was surprised what great condition they were in.

Now comes the shocker! He told me they were actually brand new! As it turns out, the lenses are manufactured in China, and easily available!

I came home and Googled them, and found they can be bought for a little over $100 per pair! God bless those Chinese kids!

Now I just need to help spread the word, so maybe I will see people using them once again to build wild customs! :-)

I started reading magazines in '58... and have seen them used on many models. They would mount them upright... sideways... and even upside down!

Now! ...if I can just find a set of '61 Chrysler headlights, then...... :-)~
