Sure Can. House of Kolour has many formulas for a candy colour paint job. This is achieved by putting down a base colour, in this case probably black, after the base has flashed a mid coat of transparent "red" or "Orange" or whatever is applied. This is the tricky part because the mid coat or the transparent coat needs to be put on evenly over the entire vehicle. Failure to do this will give you an uneven colour in certain parts of the paint job. When I do these I generally walk the car as I'm spraying, paying close attention to the overlap of my spray pattern to assure an even coat. When the mid coat has flashed, I apply the clear coat, usually 4 - 5 coats depending on the depth I am trying to achieve and to give me enough product for colour sanding and polishing.
Paint is expensive, House of Kolour is no different. PPG has a palette of many cool colours usually found in the "Vibrance" line. If you have a specific effect you are looking for, find a good Jobber, be it PPG or what ever company your going to use. If you need more information let me know and I will do my best to walk you though it in more detail. Might even be able to give you information on dyes to use in your mid coat to get the effect you are looking for. Best Ray |

thank's for the answer. how much of a mid coat, light spray, wet ? And do ,or can you put kandy consitrate in clear to give it more depth,or is this what you are calling the mid coat? Im assuming when you said transparent this would be clear with kandy mixed in.

I would not put the candy colour in the clear coat, you would loose your depth in the paint job and if you ever get in an accident or a chip, repairing your paint job is extremely difficult. The mid coat is achieved by putting a dye or a small amount of a transparent toner in a clear and transparent product compatible with the original ground base. In PPG Deltron the part number is DBC500. |

A good paint jobber will either know what you want or will get the information to you. Most paint companies have the products you need. I'm not trying to preach PPG, but they have a wide palette of options for you with dyes and toners. From product lines like Deltron, Global and Envirobase (Water Bourne). Less money than House of Kolor with great effect. Nexa and Dupont have these products available also. It all comes down to your paint supplier. They can get it, they have formulas, if they don't they can make it. It's how hard will they try for you. If you came to my store (I don't have one but if I did) I'd make it for you. When I was a rep I did it many times, did it because I enjoyed it, and made lots of life long friends. |

I didn't know guys dyed hair in 50. And I will ask about the makeup of the mid coat from paint dealer rep. The only reason I looked at house of colour is I can't find apaint that looks like manderin orang kandy that thay have. It comes in consitrates and I didn't know if you make your mid coat with it. Im just a guy that has painted base coat clear coat, so im new at this. I also was told that the consintrates can be used with any paints. I was going to H.O.K. kandy with diferent brand system.

As far as concentrates go, most have a similar version of what H of K has. PPG uses a universal dye system that works in all their products including water base. Yes the concentrate in H of k should be able to be used in any paint, but, before I'd buy the concentrate or "dye" I would explore your paint suppliers. If you don't have a gram mixing scale how much you put in one time may not be exactly what you put in the next, changing your colour, costing you a pile of money and time in starting over. If you check my posts, I always preach, SUPPLIER, SUPPLIER, SUPPLIER. |
