paint kits sold online...

I am getting ready to do a full repaint on my (ABS) plastics for my motorcycle. I have building bikes for years but it has been years since I actually painted them. I have finished the bodywork and am now looking into my primer, paint, clear, etc...I am wondering about the "package" deals many sites do that include all the needed elements for one price. Does anyone use this type of deal? I guess more than anything Im looking for recommendations into primer, paint and clear...Not wanting to break the bank but dont want to go cheap either...

Thanks

Plastic parts require specific surface prep, primer, and paint additives to adhere properly. The correct materials vary depending on the type of plastic. This is one place where it probably pays to use a local auto paint distributor. Each of the major paint suppliers has full data sheets for their products available on line, including the materials needed for each type of automotive plastic.

Just going by what I have heard so this can obviously be right or wrong but I have read on several forums paints today dont really need anything special for ABS plastics. I have heard of people putting a flex agent in their primer but other than that nothing additional or different was put into base or clear. I have also seen many varying options on adhesion promoters, seems as though the general consensus is to not use them...thoughts?

Some say to use a flex agent and others say you dont have to, because most new paints are made for modern cars that use a lot of plastic for things like bumper covers and things like that, like I have on my 85 camaro. Thinking that if that is true and I believe it is you should have no peroblem finding a paint kit in the color you want that will work for what you want to do. Just be clear about what you are painting when you talk to the supplier.
