Paint to practice with?

I searched the forum and could not find an answer to this.

I am new to painting and plan on painting my car with a brand name middle grade single stage paint. I have 2 HF HVLP spray guns (Detail 46719 and 90977).

Is there any inexpensive paint that I can get locally at Lowes, Home Depot, TSC or an auto supply store that i can use to practice with? Some thing that i could get to a similar consistency of the actual single stage paint. I want to practice, practice and practice some more the basic skills of setting up the gun, painting, and cleaning the gun. After that I would feel more confident about buying some of the actual paint I will use on the car.

Thanks.

Jeff B.

Go to a body shop and ask if they have some old paint they want to get rid of.
They will be happy to give it to you since disposal will cost more than the paint did.

Paint stores will usually sell "mistakes" cheap.

Years ago I used to teach kids how to spray paint. We used to get TSC paint. Synthetic enamel. Cheap price and gives a good enamel finish for utility use. The kids shot a lot of completes, Pintos, Chevettes, K-cars. Once you can spray synthetic enamel, you can shoot the more expensive stuff.
