Paint Prepping what grit paper for primer stages?

Just wondering what grit paper you folks are using in each step of primer. Like what grit before surfacer is used, what grit before sealer is used and what grit before base is applied? Are you wet sanding these stages or dry sanding and which is best to promote adhesion? Also, is there any thing special that works best for you?

I can tell you that I use 80 grit on bare metal before applying epoxy primer. I finish filler work with 180 grit before applying HB primer. I use 320 before applying epoxy sealer. If I need to sand the sealer for nibs, I will usually use 600 or 800 wet.

Do what adtkart says and you can't go wrong. That is pretty much standard in the industry.

I agree, Aaron's advice is right on. What products will you be using? Product choice can change the grit requirements a little.

I will prob be using PPG or HOK. I am trying to get the best adhesion I can without seeing scratches under the base. I am painting over the factory paint. Same color but different shade. I want a white sealer under the yellow base I am using so that I get a very bright yellow finish. Is there a white sealer? I have been told to use white base as a sealer.
