Paint suggestions for engine

hey im repainting my block and heads and i was wondering what to use. im looking for a high gloss and something that will wistand lots of heat and last a long time. i was told acrylic enamel wouldnt work. i've got a paint gun and would like to avoid using a spray bomb.... unless its my best bet. im not a paint expert so i thought i would ask the people that know.
thanks!

Who told you AE would not work? That works real good if you add hardner to the paint. It also resist chemicals.

Epoxy primer on the bare metal. Follow that with single stage urethane.
that's how i did this one and it looked great for many years.
