Painted Aluminum Panels

My father is in the process of replacing the seats and carpet on his pontoon boat. The new seats are tan but the panels around the boat are grey. Iím thinking of popping them off and painting them for him.
I was wondering what kind of paint I should use. I really didnít want to have to mess with a clear coat but it does need to be durable. We want to get another 20 years of use out of it.
Suggestions?

Oh, BTW, I've used Chroma-base in the past on one of my jet-skis and a old car for a friend. I wasn't all that impressed with the stuff. The jet-ski definitely needed something harder.

Simple answer would be to scuff them with a red scotch pad, clean and shoot a single stage Industrial type enamel on them.
If their aluminum and have "issues" like peeling or oxidizing,It's sand with 80 gt,clean and apply some epoxy and then the SS.
