Top to bottom always.

The stripes depend on your single stage, read the spec sheet on recoat.

Everyone has there pattern around a car, you basically want a pattern where one area hasn't sat too long, and you end up with a dry edge at the end of you pattern, because the overspray will no longer melt in. Using a slower speed reducer helps with getting around a car as well, although with a flattened paint could mean a little bit more shine then if a fast reducer were used with the same amount of flattener.
The pattern I follow is one half of roof down to pillar, other half of roof. Quarter on the side I started, deck lid, other quarter, back to first side door, other side door, finish up with hood and fenders. I usually start at the bottom and work my way up, on the side panels.
Not set in stone, really depends on how fast the paint is setting up, sometimes will paint more at once before swapping sides, say quarter and door before walking around and dragging the hose over to the other side. It also helps to go edge things like the lips of the wheel well openings and bottom of rockers, harder to get areas, and get them hit good with a layer of paint before starting on the big panels.

I like to start with the roof because it the biggest pain in the butt to me to paint, and usually the only spot that will end up sitting awhile before I get back around to it, is the the front pillar and it is a small area.
Watch your hose and body when leaning over a panel you already squirted paint on.

Like vince said, read your tech sheets for you product. Hopefully they put tape time in there for a guide. You have to wait long enough that the tape will no longer mark the paint.

I am not sure what you mean by hiding lines, but a flat paint its just important to have good spraygun technique and setup, as well as a good sequence around the vehicle. If you don't evenly apply, possible to have different levels of gloss, and could still get dryer looking edge if your paint overspray doesn't melt into a previously painted panel.

Are you dead set on white stripes? Gunmetal grey or a medium charchoal would look awesome.

im far from being good enough to do that lol. i primed and will be painting with zero teaching or practice. i learned from trial and error. the primer turned out extremely well tho. but thats just primer.

im just going to go with a dark gray of some sort. ill be spraying the black tomorrow after work. saturday i wont be home so ill have to paint the stripes sunday.

i just hope i can paint soon because i entered the car into the american graffiti cruise and show on june 12 13 and 14.

what tape do you recommend for taping off for the stripes? yellow? blue? green? im thinking green for sharp lines but it sticks strong and i dont want to harm the paint. then i think the blue because it comes off easy but its been know to bleed paint.

Get another paint store...You mean to tell me that they cannot get you the Satin paint for the old Boss Mustang and Mach1 stripe ??

They made Mustangs with both Black and Grey satin stripes
other muscle cars as well

Get another paint store

Yeah, I like the silver.

I have some Kirker Ultra Glo silver I've been experimenting with, it's really nice. I found that if you spray it a little dry it comes out satin, really cool.

Edit: x2 on the blocking (I just spent a week of 10 hour days blocking my Lincoln), but it looks really nice. Good job. Without the silver stripes, it would be just another rat rod, but the stripes rock.
