painting collector to find best torque at rpm!!

I answered a thread a while back about this and 18 inch collectors, and thought some of the younger hot rodders would like to see this! Most of us older racers already know this trick and have been doing it for years! But the younger people think its an urban legend LOL. . I found this on bang shift and thought I'd post it!

That can get you in the ballpark untill you use a program like PipeMax.

What an eye test, I had to repaint the thing to read it. Yes! Another test that verifies that shorter is not better.

Ball park is pretty good for a young or old rodder that doesnt have funds or access to more precise procedures ! I see many young people just dropping the exhaust and running off the header not knowing the power they are losing. I set my collector length on a rear wheel dino but it was in my own shop and it was easy for me. The paint method is easy, cheep, and accessible to everyone with fingers to operate the spray nozzle on the can! and a hand with an apposing thumb that can operate a hacksaw.
