Painting factory fresh suspension parts

New '34 chassis from Outlaw.... I'm keeping the OEM parts and I'm about ready to paint the frame, etc.

The Ford front suspension parts have paint on them. Aside from a few scratches it's in great condition. Can I simply scuff the surface and prime or ? I'm using 2K epoxy, color/clear. I'm concerned about adhesion on whatever that factory finish is.

I'm leaving the springs black.

I ordered new door hinges for my Camaro, I sprayed them down with break cleaner then scuff them with 400grt. Then sprayed them with primer surfacer thinking that its a primer, right! Then sprayed color on them, they really looked good. When I bolted them on, the bolts were turning on the hinge an tore the paint off the hinges. Big tears, like the size of a dime. Use epoxy primer an maybe cover the bolt holes with tape just a little larger than the hole.
