Painting plastic

I have a plastic unit I am going to install on my car. I have heard there is a new type of paint just for plastic (flexible). does anyone know what is the best way to go about this?

Krylon has just come out with a new gimmick spray paint for plastics.
But, for automotive situations there is an additive (flexative) you can add to most auto paints.

I am modifying a newspaper mailbox for use as a bug catcher. Do you think this would work? I would like it to match the body paint.
