I have used the plastic dye that LMC sells with real good luck. I bought an arm rest that needed to be dyed a different color and it was permanent, no fading or wearing out to show the original color at all. http://www.**************.com

I only recommend things that either 1) I use in my business, or 2) I have used in my own car and have had good luck with. If you don't want to take my recommendations, please feel free to buy whatever product you want.

Thank you Jerry. At the risk of offending my young friend, SEM makes a product called Color Coat which comes in aerosols and also can be custom matched to any color. It can be used to "enhance the color of carpet and velour", it is not intended to make drastic changes in color, only to brighten up existing colors, and should only be used on short napped fabric and carpet. I would worry about dye coming off too, but I think you would be safe with this. Even though I always refer to them as dyes, SEM products are not dyes, they are "permanent flexible coatings" that will not peel or crack if the substrate is properly prepared.

I have a friend who works for interior magic here locally.....they use SEM for all their dieing needs.
I'v worked in 2 detail shops (one at a chevy dealership) and both of them used SEM for dieing stains. It is a professional product made for professional results. |

If you're refinishing hard plastic, you can use Color Coat or Sure Coat (Color Coat is lacquer based and Sure Coat is water based).
If you're recoloring vinyl, you can use Color Coat, Classic Coat, or Sure Coat. If you're refinishing leather, you can use Sure Coat or Classic Coat. Color Coat comes in aerosol cans or in bulk for spraying. Sure Coat only comes in bulk and can be sprayed or brushed on. Both of these products can be mixed to match any color. Classic Coat only comes in aerosols, and only comes in car manufacturers OEM interior colors.
