Painting plastic trim on 96 S10

I was just wondering, you know how you see those custom painted trucks (preferably S10's in my case), and you see that the interior trim around the light switches and stereo and all that. Well on the really custom painted trucks they also paint this piece and it always turns out really very smooth and glossy. I would also like to do this but i have absolutely no idea what kind of paint it is! Does anyone know what im talking about and if you do could you please help!

The paint is generally regular auto paint, either single stage Urethane, or base coat without the clearcoat. The only differance is a plasticizer has been added to make the paint more flexible. Particular care must be taken in surface prep to remove all traces of silicone based preseratives like ArmorAll. Any auto paint store can set you up with paint to handle this.
