Pancaking a hood

Hi all,

I've always hated the 'hammerhead' appearance of the hood on my 55 (2nd series) Chevy truck, and am now finally committed to pancaking it. Has anyone here done this that can offer do's/don'ts? I was thinking that after tacking in some braces to keep the hood square, I'd pie-cut metal out of the sides and front, lower the lid and weld in new sheetmetal as needed to close the gaps. Or, cut a series of vertical slices in the sides and front, lower the lid and weld it all up closed.

Any thoughts on what would work best? Anyone got any pix or a sketch of a pancaked Tri-5 Chevy truck?

Thanks in advance.

You're welcome!

Take your time and have fun

The builders of that truck really hit the mark on the sheet metal mods, I never tire of looking at that picture!
