Parking Brake help for a 67 GTO

So I was pumped up to go get my car inspected, after all the work I put into it to get it ready, and I pull up to the Vavoline shop and their driveway is on an incline. A mechanic comes out smiling and tells me that he would be happy to inspect my car. I put the parking brake on and am about to get out when the car starts to roll down their driveway. Man I felt like an idiot. On top of all this my car wouldnt start for 10 minutes.

So my question is does anyone know how to change the parking brake or tighten the cable? Any help wll be appreciated. Thanks!

If the rear shoes are out of adjustment, than the parking brakes won't work either.

the parking brake is just a cable that runs the length of the belly of the car. There should be adjustments at the part where it splits into two cables.

The GM A-body cars are a little different in the parking brake cable setup. There is a single cable that comes down from the parking brake pedal that passes through a hole in the trans crossmember. This cable passes though a U-shaped metal holder that also holds the crossover cable that attaches to the two cables from the backing plates. This crossover cable is attached to the trans crossmember with a big "S" hook and also is held by two smaller "S" hooks that go to the floorpan.

The first problem is that the front and center cables are different for different transmissions, since the crossmember is further back on the TH400 than on other transmissions. The actual adjustment is a nut on the end of the front cable where it fits through the "U" shaped piece that holds the center crossover cable. If any of the "S" hooks are missing, you won't be able to properly adjust the cable.
