Parking lamps are actually marker lamps, usually in the front grille area or front face bar and tail lamps to the rear. Early cars had them come on without the headlamps (hence being called parking lamps) and went off when the headlamps were turned on (of course the tail lamps stayed on). Starting in 68, the front maker lamps went out with the turning on of the headlamps. Now late models stay on with the headlamps.

So you need to decide how you want to show them and what is legal in your state.

Parking lights are the ones on the front that come on when you pull the headlight switch out half-way.

As a general rule, pre-1968 parking lights turn off when you pull the light switch all the way out to light the headlights. On '68 & later cars, they stay on with the headlights.

Also in 68, they started putting side marker lights in the front and rear fenders.

It's great to be old and remember all this useless crap.........................

parking lights

in this "keep it clean" (brand name) universal wiring harness the only wires that go to the front and rear of the car for lights that stay on when driving are called parking lights no wires say front head lights or rear running lights
