Part time stumble
I have a 1999 Yukon 130000 plus miles. Run great. I'm getting no codes and checking with a hand held scanner everything seems to be within tolerance. Sometimes after a quick in and out in a store, it will stumble and die after starting. Always restarts and then runs great. Any ideas.

Obvious things like fuel filter, plugs air filter and such. Our 2004 Tahoe started something similar but it did not, die just an intermittent stumble while idling. Traced it back to a tank of gas, dropped in a can of fuel injector cleaner and in short order the stumble went away never to return.

I've checked fuel pressure has new fuel filter. Like I stated not seeing anything on scanner so must be intermitant. Just every now and then will stumble and die after a hot restart.

I agree that a bad tank of gas or water in the tank might be the prime candidate. Failing that, I'd pull and inspect the idle air control motor. The pintle and/or seat can become carboned up, resulting in erratic idle. |
If you have a new fuel filter..... there might be sediment in the tank and at higher rpm it's not totally blocking it, could be water in the tank, could be leaking fuel injectors, could be a leaking fuel line allowing air into the fuel line but not letting gas out...... that actually happened to me once, I figured it out when the ing module crapped out and as I was trouble shooting it I noticed a small amount of fuel on the drive way...... ended up being a loose clamp on the fuel supply line.
