First of all, we need to know the year of the vehicle the engine will be going into and what engine came in that vehicle. And nobody here is going to call you a idiot, we all had to ask at one time just like your doing now, and anytime a question is asked for quest of learning that`s the smart way to do it. The idiot is the one that don`t ask.

Hey, from one young learning rodder to another guy wanting to build his car...I think its awesome that your "learning by doing". Hands-on and reading are the only ways that Ive been learning. Come to this forum and research, then ask questions if you dont find what your looking for. Seems like your on the right path to me (for what I know). Good luck, and dont give it up!

Jesse,
for "what parts did I forget"..... the Advance Auto and Autozone websites are alot more helpful/quicker/easier.... (NAPA site does give better info on some parts but you have to hunt each part) on either site, plug in the year/car/motor and click replacement parts, click on a catagory, up pops a broken down list of all parts required..... ex: http://www.partsamerica.com/ReplacementParts.aspx |

Sorry about that.
1949 Mercury 4 door - completely stripped out engine bay, Chassis and body is all together, no interior. 1985 Chevy 350, 350 turbo trans and Chevy 10 bolt rear end. Like I said, the engine is fitted, just need to shim up the one side a little, trans crossmember is in place. Once I shim it, I will check the angle of the drive line, 4 - 6 degrees I think I remember reading? I am going to paint over the chevy orange paint on the block this weekend, drop it back in, and start bolting on parts. Have about half the stuff on my list, the other half I am in process of ordering (hard to take a $3k hit all at once). I just want to be able to start the car, not worried about getting everything finallized yet. |
