parts washer

i have a stainless steel tub with a hinged cover and a center drain at the bottom, i'm going to make it a parts washer, i already have a pump the question is do i need some type of gasket or rubber molding around the top to keep fumes in ? and if i do what type of rubber or foam do you yhink i should use? thanks for your help.

No rubber gasket will last if you get a potent cleaning solution in the tank. Are you going to heat the cleaning solution? I keep my hot tank in a shed outside the main working area. The fumes from the hot solution can get intense..

no i wasn't planning on heating it up. what do they put on the parts tanks you buy? iv'e never looked and i'm not near one.

Mine just has a metal cover with the edge turned down over the tub, no gasket or seal.

Get saturdays paper and look for used dishwasher - usually $25-$35. Give it a shot of Simple Green or your favorite... and let it rock. Don't use the one in you kitchen!
