I have a 56 Ford F-100 and I would like to fill the gas filler hole. I don't just want to throw a piece of sheetmetal on it and then slap some bondo over it. I could make my own patch, but I would much rather buy one with the correct curve, so does anybody know where I if or where I could get one of those patches.
Just remove the filler neck. Get some 20 gage sheet metal, put it in behind and scribe it out. Trim it and check for fit. Weld it in. You will have to probably use a small amount of filler.
do what Kev said, and in addition, you might even think about leaving the patch piece a little bigger than the hole, take it around to the other side of the truck, and gently bend/shape it to the contour of that side and then trim to fit.
might make for less filler......
