Patching a rag top

Any good ideas on patching a hole in a convertible top?
Not dry rotted, just had a limb fall through it.

Limb? How about the whole tree?

Your better off getting a new top. Plus that back window looks pretty dingy. Those tops are fairly cheap, because they were used on many cars. Just shop around for a good shop for a decent price.

Well, I'd like a new top but the car is just going to be used as a cruise in driver this spring and summer while I finish restoring my coupe. (see my journal)
So I don't want to get to deep into this car, time or money, as at the moment it needs a lot of other work to warrant a new top. Biggest expenses are on tires, brakes and exhaust.
For cruising I can drop the top and boot it, but I would like a good patch on it for inclement weather.

Oh and I really dodged a big disaster on the tree falling. I had the coupe and Convertible parked side by side outdoors one winter and an ice storm brought down a huge pine, it went right between them with only a dent in the vert quarter and hole in the roof. Didn't touch the coupe.

a kit!

you could just get a vinyl repair kit from jc whitney i found one for 39.99,its in the interior repair section of any of the monthy mags they put out its basic a dash repair kit same stuff as your top and the deluxe dash repair kit is 19.99 dollars more, just repair it from the bottom by heating the top with a pinch if vinyl with a piece of same color you could trim off a unseen part of the top say near the lower part under a clip near the back of the top! just a thought....................bourne51@netzero.com
