Patina Paint

I have seen this on some frame off resto's at car shows and was wondering how it is actually shot on? Usually you would just leave you car outside in the sunlight for 30+ years and it woud handle it for you, but guys are actually using a patina paint scheme on their street rods now.

The technique is called "weathering". It usually uses basic paints and primers applied with stencils and/or freehand to make a car or paint job look old... Here is a site that markets a "weathering" kit... http://www.rustall.com/
Many model kit builders use these techniques to make a model look old and beat up.
