pay back is a bi&*h!!

This is what i'm going to say to alot of people at the strip after my Polara is resurrected: 1970 Dodge Polara 4door hardtop, 383 big block built to magnum specs,727 torqueflite with shift kit and 2400 stall converter,3.23 rear with factory tru-grip,nice radials $100 a piece+, silver body, with black vinyl top and interior should be good for 14s in the quarter . oughta keep me occupied during the winter.

Not to bust your bubble man, but 14's is nothing now a days. My father always says 300 hp is plenty. While it may be for general driving, and Im sure was alot back in the 70's and 80's, 4 cylinder imports are routinely running 14's-15's stock.

Anywho, who cares about what you beat, nothings better then the lump of a v-8

Polara

The Dodge Polara was widely used by police and highway patrol. The 440 Engine many of them had was enough to move the heavy body to a high rate of speed that was fairly stable during high speed chases on relatively straight roads.

I believe I read somewhere that at one point the Dodge Polara during the late 60's was the most powerful factory car up to that point? Was it 1969? I know the 70 Chevelle 454 LS6 was THE most powerful RATED car ever up until recent times out of Detroit.

But yes, weight to power ratio...or versa vice? plays a big part of how fast a car will be.

You can sacrifice a lot of streetability to increase that ratio. But if your goal is to have a versatile car that's fun to run down the track once in a while, then it makes sense to me! ....as it did when I was young

HAVE FUN! Stay safe.

Steve

the 1969 dodge Polara CHP (California Highway Patrol) did the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds at over 100 mph and 0-60 in 6.3 seconds FULLY LOADED!!!
love to have have one of those, anybody know where I find one? but yeah any ways don't underestimate the big'uns, 'cuse they can and will go number 2 all over your mustang and camaro (and honda) and it's usually the innocent lookin' ones like a dark green 1970 Buick Electra 225 for example (by the way, those bad boys will do high 14s to very low 15s very good performance by todays standards i think) anyhow i'm going to bed, later.

you need more gear in that car, and paint it black, no fancy wheels, only steelies. Why? Ever see those menacing fuzz rides on Vanishing Point? (the old version) Good luck with the build, 4 doors are different and cool!
