I am guessing your compression ration is in or around 10.25:1 and that you are shooting for a redline of 5700. If so, you should get the following results:

327 horsepower at 4700 RPM
413 lb/ft. of torque at 3300 RPM

If you can post additional information about the engine as well as the car itself I will give you a full performance report on your setup.

I'll need you to tell me about the car, transmission, differential, driven tire size, stall converter and weight of car with driver. I can fill in any of this data that you may be uncertain of.

it is in a 85 silverado (3,500lbs with driver). it has a th350 transmission, with 2.73 gears(soon to be 3.73) run both, and a 2000 rpm stall. The motor has a stock crank, x-rods, flat top pistons, stock heads, with specs from above post, soon to be ported 1/16 of an inch. they should have 170 runners, hoping to get them around 200. that should be everything. i run a 28 inch tire. thanks for the help.

Also need the tire specifics. Is it a radial, drag radial, DOT slick, racing slick.

The width is very important as well. I'll assume a reasonably sized radial is being used such as a 275/60/16

The results are as follows:

Estimated dyno results:
307 hp @ 4700rpm
387 ft.lb. torque @ 3200rpm
Assuming a redline of 6000rpm

Gear Selection of 2.73 (assumed single track)
1/4 mile:14.11 @ 99mph

Gear Selection of 3.23 (assumed posi track)
1/4 mile:13.86 @ 99.4mph

Gear Selection of 3.42 (assumed posi track)
1/4 mile:13.83 @ 98.5mph

Gear Selection of 3.73 (assumed posi track)
1/4 mile:13.79 @ 99mph

Gear Selection of 4.11 (assumed posi track)
1/4 mile:13.76 @ 99.5mph

Keep in mind that these numbers are greatly affected by the tire type and size. The more information you provide the more accurate the results will be.

If you need more just ask...

the tires are a 275/60 15 radial. it will have slicks eventually but probably not any time soon. i really appreciate the help, but i have just one more question. how close are these pc dynos. 1% error, 2%, anyone compared actual to the pc. It is really interesting to me. Thanks again.

In response to tonylsg's question, I have found that the program is for the most part dead on.

A fellow Hotrodder was is the planning stages of a 1962 Belair wagon project and was making a deal with guy to have a 350 Chevy built for the car.

The builder promised 385 horsepower using the standard bore and stroke and could produce a printed dyno report to back it up. I expressed my doubts regarding those numbers and offered to put the specs through PC HOTROD (answer to the second question). I ran the numbers and PC HOTROD calculated the horsepower to be 362 @ 4850 rpm. My friend had trouble believing the results so he said that he could get a copy of the dyno report.
One week later he did have a dyno run and the report indicated 361 horsepower at 4800 rpm and if my memory serves me right the torque was right on as well.

Come to find out, the engine that was promised to have 385 horsepower was a stroked out 383 cid Chevy.

JamesP, if you have something you would like to run through PC HOTROD let me know.

Hey 1Bad80:

I couldn't find any dyno programs at those links (aside from "Virtual Engine 2000 Dyno Simulation Software" which one must pay for and order)

Where are there FREE dyno downloads?

Looks like you didnt go thru all the sites. Some have free software and alot of other needed engine stuff. I just went to one of the sites I had down and found it easy enough.

This one has a few demos

Hey tonylsg, by changing your tire size in PC HOTROD to 275/60/15 from 275/60/16 the program showed a better 1/4 mile time by two 100ths. of a second.

hey just wanted to say thanks 2quick. i am pretty happy with those results. so far i have about 150 dollars invested in the motor. a combintion of me doing favors and free parts seemed to result in a pretty good set up. still have to work the heads, ignition work and rearend and it will be mechanically where i want it.

Pay special attention to those heads. They harness a great deal of hidden horsepower. It takes a special person to release those horses with some fine porting and polishing work.

Most people ignore the headwork and miss-out on those extra ponies.
